My favorite surprise attack has to be the snow ninjas in #Earthdawn. Using white warming cloaks to keep warm, they laid still in the snow and awaited the group. Then they burst out of the snow banks and attacked the group with their katana and wakizashi. They mostly got cut down due to riposte but it was a fun encounter.
