Return to 50 Fathoms Recap 26: Obsession

December 13, 2019 @ 5:30-9:30 P.M.

< WARNING SPOILERS FOR 50 FATHOMS AHEAD MATEY! ALSO A WARNING ABOUT SQUICK IN THIS RECAP. READ ON...IF YOU DARE!>

Day 188
PLACE: THE PIRATE SEA
WEATHER: SUNNY
TIME OF DAY: MORNING

La Arcadia headed southeast, towards Jomba Town. Captain Red Pirate Roberts released the mute girl, Sarah Galloway, who noticeably calmed down when told they had escaped Dunich successfully, from the brig. Despite her youth, she had been trained as a sailor aboard the Pough, before that vessel met its tragic end on shoals in Dunich Bay.

Day 189
PLACE: THE PIRATE SEA
WEATHER: RAINY
TIME OF DAY: EVENING

La Arcadia sailed through an area which had increased game, so the sailors managed to hook a few more fish to go with stale crackers.

Day 190
PLACE: THE PIRATE SEA
WEATHER:FOGGY
TIME OF DAY: EVENING

Redbeard Rufus appeared and began chasing La Arcadia in The Incinerator. La Arcadia managed to stay ahead of The Incinerator and out of range of its cannons.

[Andrew played Foul Winds which brought a storm into the chase. This turned out to be quite an advantage due to the Wind Sense edge that Red Pirate Roberts had recently taken.]

The storm slowed both ships down as they fought the winds.

The winds picked up and planks from the rotten Incinerator went flying, carrying zombie sailors into the Pirate Sea with them.

Despite all this, The Incinerator kept getting closer. Horventerous and Ricardo unleashed bolts of water and wind at The Incinerator that seemed to be dampened by the surrounding storm.

The Incinerator came alongside La Arcadia. Unk swung across and tried to grab Redbeard Rufus, but his hands slipped. Then Redbeard Rufus affixed his gruesome visage at Unk and he collapsed on the deck of The Incinerator clutching his chest. Horventerous and Ricardo cast two more desperate bolts at The Incinerator, but to no avail.
Redbeard Rufus tried to negotiate with Horventerous.
"I'll trade you the life of your friend for my golden triangles."--Redbeard Rufus
     "No deal."--Horventerous
     "So be it"--Redbeard Rufus

[Well that was a Greedy hindrance Bennie.]

Redbeard Rufus lifted Unk up with one hand and drew out his cutlass which screamed as it slashed Unk's neck and severed his head from his body. Redbeard Rufus kicked Unk's body to the sea and held Unk's head out for the group to see.

"Let it be witnessed that this is the fate of all who would dare get between me and my treasure."--Redbeard Rufus

[Chessie played Suzu for the rest of the game.]

The Incinerator had no captain at the wheel and seemed to hit something in the water before it vanished.
Red Pirate Roberts guided La Arcadia through the storm intact but it had thrown them off course. They were now well south of Jomba Town and now near Maroa in between Taratos and Cuwayo.

Day 191
PLACE: THE PIRATE SEA
WEATHER: RAINY

La Arcadia sailed to Calib's Rock.

Day 191
PLACE: CALIB'S ROCK, TARATOS
WEATHER: STORMY

The group took the longboats to shore and Suzu saw something in the waters but was ignored by the rest of the group. They entered the local tavern and heard a tale about treasure from Owen McDougal. The group caroused and Horventerous dreamed of treasure chests with a golden triangle.

Day 192
PLACE: CALIB'S ROCK, TARATOS
WEATHER: OVERCAST

Horventerous convinced Red Pirate Roberts to stay. The group bought picks, shovels, and provisions. They had Owen guide them to the spot to dig. They managed to get to 30 feet deep the first day.

Day 193
PLACE: CALIB'S ROCK, TARATOS
WEATHER: SUNNY

The group dug to 60 feet deep on the second day. The shaft started filing with water at the bottom and no amount of paling would remove it. Horventerous noticed it was salt water and figured out that perhaps the treasure could be gained from the Pirate Sea.

Day 194
PLACE: THE PIRATE SEA
WEATHER: SUNNY

Horventerous spotted the cavern with the bottom of the shaft, seeing tarred planks with two treasure chests on top. But he was set upon by a swarm of bloodfish. He tried to fight them with a sword and bolts, but the deaths of individual fish did nothing to stop the swarm.

Horventerous cast blast and killed most of the bloodfish swarm, but a small school split off from the main group and continued to harass him until he used a second blast

Horventerous was attacked a second time by a bloodfish swarm as he attempted to pry the wooden bars with a pick.  He cast blast and the bloodfish split into two smaller schools of fish before he used a second blast to get rid of the nuisances.

Horventerous managed to pry loose the two treasure chests. He opened up the treasure chests with his pick. He found 2,000 pieces of eight and gave half to the captain as well as a suit of leather armor. He grabbed a dagger and the fourth golden triangle for himself.

Day 195
PLACE: THE PIRATE"S SEA
WEATHER: SUNNY

       La Arcadia sailed to Tuck...

Saga of the Goblin Horde Recap #6: Storming the Field

November 17, 2019 @ 2:30 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.

<WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR SAGA OF THE GOBLIN HORDE PLOT POINT 4!>

Day 70
Redfang Tribe Camp

Chief Rockhead of the Stonefist tribe and his goblins arrived to play a friendly game of Kickball.
Chief Bignose skinned the human head to create the skull ball for the game. He tried to give a speech but was drowned out by the rain. Then he bade goblins to set up the two copper goals. The goblins hurried up while glancing nervously at the sky, as if expecting to be struck by lightning while putting them up.
Glub, Twankle, and Windel lined up. Glub turned into his Barghest form to intimidate the Stonefist bosses and it worked.

Glub kicked off and the group ran down the field to the attack zone. After a series of passes, Windel managed to score a goal. Redfang Tribe 1- Stonefist Tribe 0.

The Stonefist Tribe kicked off but the ball was intercepted by Glub! After a perfect pass from Windel out of a sinkhole that had formed in the attack zone, Twankle scored a goal! Redfang Tribe 2- Stonefist Tribe 0.
The Stonefist Tribe kicked off but the ball was recovered by Twankle and sent to the attack zone! The sinkhole had filled in with water and Glub and Windel swam through it to get the ball.  A failed pass to Twankle was intercepted by the Stonefist gang members and sent back to midfield but Windel stole it and got the ball back to the attack zone. After a series of passes, Twankle aimed a pass at Windel's head and she head-butted the ball into the goal. Redfang Tribe 3- Stonefist Tribe 0.
The Stonefist Tribe kicked off but the ball was blocked by Windel! Glub went into a sinkhole forming in midfield and kicked the ball out passing it to Twankle. Twankle kicked it into the attack zone towards Windel.
But Windel was tripped by a Stonefist gang member and took a wound as she hit her head on a rock after she fell. The Stonefist Tribe kicked it to the other end of the field into the attack zone.

Glub stole the ball and the Stonefist bosses took it right back. Twankle stopped a goal shot by a Stonefist boss just before halftime.
At halftime, Glub kicked and tripped the Stonefist gang member that hurt Windel. The goblin bosses bragged about leading 3-0 and how the Stonefist hadn't even scored a goal yet.
The Stonefist Tribe kicked off but the ball was taken by Twankle! Twankle passed it to Windel and assisted on Glub's first goal! Redfang Tribe 4- Stonefist Tribe 0.
The Stonefist Tribe kicked off and made it into the attack zone. But Glub retrieved the ball and with a mighty kick scored from their own attack zone! Redfang Tribe 5- Stonefist Tribe 0.

[Kevin rolled like a 16 + to score from there.]

The Stonefist Tribe kicked off and managed to march down the field and score a goal! Redfang Tribe 5- Stonefist Tribe 1.
Glub kicked off and passed it to Windel in the attack zone, but tripped and fell on her own gang member. The Stonefist gang members had the ball briefly but it was stolen by Twankle. Twankle passed it to Glub. Glub kicked it into the goal despite nearly being surrounded by Stonefist gang members. Redfang Tribe 6- Stonefist Tribe 1.
At this point, town humans appeared on foot and horseback and were shocked to find goblins using the head of their prince as a football. The town humans vowed revenge on the goblins and that they would retrieve the skull for burial.

The humiliated Stonefist Tribe vowed to play on. They had enough time to at least tie it. The Redfang Tribe refused to let them tie the game. A Stonefist kickoff got them to the Redfang attack zone. But Windel stole the ball and passed it to Glub who kicked it into the goal! Redfang Tribe 7- Stonefist Tribe 1.
The Stonefist kept playing but only managed 4 goals while having to fight the town humans. The game ended with a score of Redfang Tribe 7- Stonefist Tribe 5.
Meanwhile, town humans fought the goblins on the field and attacked Redfang and Stonefist Tribe members in the crowd.
Twankle used a trap she had set for the Stonefist Tribe to kill one of the town human soldiers, a spring loaded dart trap on the goalpost. Twankle and her gang members fought and killed the town human knight and his remaining squire.
Glub killed a town human soldier. The town human knight became shaken and accidentally decapitated his own footman.

"Die foul goblin abomination!"--Human Knight.

The town human knight recovered and slashed at Glub but delivered a glancing blow against his fur. After being called a monster, Glub acted the part, biting off the town human knight's head and kicking it into the goal.
Windel directed her gang members to take down the knight's horse. He leapt off the horse and took the blow for it. Then he was struck down dead by a bolt of lightning from the storm. Windel hallucinated that the horse had died but it kept kicking at her until it struck her. Then Windel and her gang members killed the horse. The town human footmen were killed by Windel's gang members.
The town humans had failed to retrieve the skull and withdrew when their losses had become too great to overcome the two goblin tribes combined.
With the match over, Chief Bignose was pleased with the victory and gave the bosses a knick-knack each.

Day 71-75
Redfang Tribe Camp

The bosses rested and recovered their wounds and lost gang members.  Chief Rockhead and the Stonefist Tribe left for their homeland in the mountains.

Day 76
Redfang Tribe Camp

A messenger from the Stonefist Tribe arrived and informed Chief Bignose of their journey home being hindered by town humans throughout Redfang Tribe territory. Chief Bignose told the goblin bosses that big town humans were invading Redfang Tribe territory and that they needed to be stopped...
