For the first session of the ten year #Earthdawn campaign, I had the group meet at The Wanderer's Rest in Bartertown, an inn where they were serenaded with a legend from Legends of Earthdawn by Elf Troubadour Lilandra Silvertongue. When the group showed an interest in her and the legend, she introduced them to her guide to the Servos Jungle, Human Beastmaster Luke Branford, as she intended to investigate the veracity of the legend.
When I introduced these two NPCs, I had no idea the impact they would have on the whole campaign. Luke became a Questor of Jaspree by the end of their first adventure deep in the Servos. Lilandra would eventually earn enough wealth to buy The Wanderer's Rest. Luke and Lilandra had a dalliance which might have been something more if they were not a human and a elf with two completely different lifespans and if the firebrand Fiona Flamehair hadn't walked in to steal Luke's heart. They traveled for much of the campaign with the group and then went off on their own side adventures. They helped guide the group on their first adventure and beyond. They also helped build a new Barsaive through their actions with the group.
