Saga of the Goblin Horde Recap #9: Suit up!

 February 22, 2020 @ 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

<WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR SAGA OF THE GOBLIN HORDE PLOT POINT 5!>

Day 97
Redfang Tribe Camp

Windel was released from her imprisonment and allowed to rejoin the other goblin bosses. The goblin bosses tried to figure out how they were going to work the bugbear suit. Windel was having trouble due to her wounds and exhaustion...

The goblin bosses divvied up control of the bugbear suit (Bugtron? Gobtron?). Twankle took control of the head. Glub took control of the right arm and took a war-axe out of his tent. Windel took control of the left arm. The other goblins filled out the torso and took control of the legs. Twankle and Windel bought crude armor for the suit giving it a Toughness of 6 (1) except the head.

Day 98
Redfang Tribe Camp to Twilight Woods Cave

The goblins broke in the suit. The goblin gang members learned how to walk and run in the suit. Twankle's gang members were better at it, so it came out more as a skip with one leg lagging behind.
Twankle spotted some game and then Glub and Windel used the arms to capture and kill it.
Twankle found a cave for the goblins to rest inside during the day and get out of the uncomfortable bugbear suit. The worst part about it was Windel who was still wearing a rat suit made for her by Little Talks. It had not been washed in a month and the fetid stench nearly overwhelmed the other goblins.

Day 99
Twilight Woods

The goblin bosses discovered twenty drunken bugbears in a chant led by a smaller female bugbear wearing animal skins on an altar. Many races had been tied and bound to hand statues in the grove with gags over their mouths. A town human, forest human, borderland goblin, canitaur, goblin, psioblin, river goblin, gremlin, half-goblin, and hobgoblin were held prisoner.

I used this for the canitaur.

I used this for the bugbear suit. The little guy inside just made it perfect.

The goblin bosses waded through a crowd of dancing, drunken bugbears and went to the front near the altar. Glub and Twankle shoved a couple bugbears forward towards the female shaman.
The female bugbear shaman said, "These two bugbears volunteer for the feast!"
A cheer went up among the other bugbears. Four bugbears tied them to the center statue and gagged them to muffle their screams.

Soon hounds with dragon-like scales appeared from the woods.

The bugbears stepped back away from the prisoners.

The hounds released gouts of flame that started to cook the captives. Glub and Twankle pushed the bugbear shaman forward but she dodged the fire spout.

"How dare you lay your hands on me! Kill the heretic!"--bugbear shaman

A second cone of flame roasted the captives as the bugbear shaman rolled out of the way. The bugbear shaman summoned a dire wolf.

The goblin bosses and goblin gang members attacked the bugbear shaman. Glub managed to wound her with a swing of his war-axe but a head butt from Twankle, punch from Windel, and two kicks from the goblin gang members didn't seem to faze her.
Some bugbears surrounded the bugbear suit. Others continued dancing. Most of them went towards the cooked meat.

"They are civilized bugbears! They cooked their meat before they eat it!"-Glub

The first bugbear swing severely damaged the left leg of the suit. Two others hit the chest and parted it, revealing the goblins inside.

"It is a goblin piñata! Gretrud really went all out this year!"--bugbear brute

When they open your bugbear suit and you are like nothing to see here.

Glub transformed into his wolf form and ran away.

The dragon-like hounds went to the cooked meat and began to eat with the bugbears as if they had been trained to do this over the years. Twankle's squad fled to the north.

Windel's squad fled to the south with her goblin gang members pushing her forward. With no one left in the suit, it fell over on three bugbears.

The bugbear shaman tried to entangle the goblins but failed. Her dire wolf munched one of the goblin gang members though. The bugbears under the suit pushed it off and stood up. Other bugbears split to the north and south pursuing the goblins, killing one of Twankle and one of Windel's goblin gang members. The remaining bugbears kept eating.

Glub, Twankle, and Windel managed to run away but Twankle and Windel lost another gang member during the escape.

As they ran away, the goblin bosses came upon a goblin boss and his minions fleeing from more of the dracohounds.

They breathed fire but only a couple of the goblins got singed.

[Being actually able to roll agility is a huge help in dodging!]

Upon seeing the goblin bosses, the new goblin boss became emboldened and stopped running.

"We got reinforcements boys! Charge!"--goblin boss

The new goblin boss and his bodyguards converged on a dracohound and sundered it into six pieces.
Glub pounced on a dracohound and then turned into his barghest form.
Twankle and her goblins moved forward.
Windel hallucinated seeing bugbears and dracohounds fight as her goblin gang members tried to shake her out of it.

The new goblin boss and his minions killed a second dracohound.
Twankle and her goblin gang members shanked the last dracohound.

The goblin boss said his name was Tiny Arm Humper and told them he was a wandering merchant of the Redfang Tribe. He took off his large rucksack on his back with help from his goblin gang members because of his tiny arms. Since they saved his life, he gave them a special half off deal. He sold Glub a war-axe and Windel a very dangerous barbed axe. He offered them provisions but the group refused. Glub grabbed a dracohound to bring to Chief Bignose.
The goblin bosses and gang members ate dracosteaks on their way back to the Redfang Tribe Camp.

Day 100-104
Redfang Tribe Camp

Glub gave Chief Bignose the dracohound and told him the story of their scouting mission.  Chief Bignose gave them a knick-knack each for succeeding at their scouting mission. Gretrud was a threat to Redfang Tribe members but also attacked town and forest humans. Chief Bignose gave a warning to the Redfang Tribe to avoid the bugbear shaman's part of the Twilight Woods, but especially near this time of year.
The group recruited new goblin gang members. Windel healed her two wounds.

Day 105
Redfang Tribe Camp

Chief Bignose summoned the group to his tent. After ceasing a relentless assault on his toenails, he bade them to head north to the Northern River and slow or disrupt the mountain humans to give the Stonefist Tribe enough time to mobilize and stop them. Chief Bignose reminded them that he hated Windel the most, surprising Glub as a half-goblin loner to be the second most hated, and he had made sure they would all get the short straws when drawing lots for this dangerous mission. He then dismissed them and went back to his nails.

Day 106-107
Redfang Tribe Camp to Northern River

Windel couldn't find any food when the dracosteaks ran out so she sacrificed one of her goblin gang members to her and the rest of her gang.

Day 108
Northern River

Twankle saw the mountain humans had set up two camps on both sides of the river and had started making a makeshift bridge to allow the mountain human army to cross into Redfang Tribe territory. The bridge needed to be destroyed to prevent the mountain humans from escaping from the Stonefist Tribe army that was coming to crush the mountain humans on their side of the river.
The goblin bosses snuck into the mountain human encampment without raising an alarm and got the drop on five mountain human guards. The last mountain human guard didn't notice the sudden death of his fellow guards and was surprised as well.

[I rolled a 2 and then used my last GM Bennie to get a 1 on Notice for the mountain human guard.]

Twankle prepared to "fix" the bridge gremlin style as Windel, Glub, and the goblin gang members prepared to fight mountain humans who would try to stop her...

Maps

DramaScape's Grove of Hands was used for the bugbear "picnic". This map is particularly good for a druid, shaman, or witch doctor ritual in the forest. It is also a good map for a big colossus buried in the woods.

DramaScape's Wagons Roll was used for the forest path in the Twilight Woods.
