Saga of the Goblin Horde Recap #8: Melting Winter's Solstice

 February 8, 2020 @ 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

<WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR SAGA OF THE GOBLIN HORDE ONE SHEET SANGUINE SOLSTICE!>

Day 86
Redfang Tribe Camp

An angered Chief Bignose wanted to strike back at the town humans for interrupting kickball and their trespassing in Redfang Tribe territory. He ordered the goblin bosses to attack a town human village during a Winter Solstice festival and interrupt their holiday like they had interrupted their game...

Glub stored his two war-axes and donned his liquid metal armor he had stored in a chest in his tent.

Day 87
Redfang Tribe Camp to Twilight Woods

Borderland Goblins ambushed and killed one of Twankle's goblin gang members. The only one who rolled Notice and succeeded was Windel who opted to hallucinate seeing six rabbits take a large carrot by biting into it from six sides, causing the carrot to ooze vegetable juice. Disgusted, she turned her head away from the scene. Ugh vegetables!

Day 88
Twilight Woods to Human Lands

Glub noticed a town human patrol up ahead and snuck closer to them.

"Why we gotta patrol during the Winter Solstice festival anyway?"--Town human soldier
"With the war on against the goblins, someone has to in case they counterattack."--Town human soldier
"We just drew the short straws on the worst night for it."--Town human soldier

The town humans moved forward and became aware of the ten goblins near them.

"What's that ahead then? Goblins! We have to warn the town!"--Town human soldier

Glub killed two of the town human soldiers leaving only four left before retreating towards the group. The rest of them ran away towards the town human village.
Twankle and Windel ran after them. Twankle threw one of her goblin gang members at them. She managed to get the goblin close enough to a town human so that it could attack with its spear but the goblin missed.

One town human turned to engage a goblin gang member. He stabbed him with his human sword and then tried to catch up with the other fleeing town humans.
Windel and her goblin gang members caught up with the slow town human and he was drawn and quartered. Windel became scared because of all the blood and she ran away.
Glub moved at incredible speed and killed two town humans before they could escape.

[Kevin played Focus...Focus... and added +1d6 to his Run die for +6! He moved 17 Pace on a Run.]

Twankle threw her last goblin gang member at a town human but the goblin struck a glancing blow with his spear.

Twankle used the opportunity to move in and shank him while he was busy with her last goblin gang member.

Day 88
Cave in the Human Lands

The group found a cave to wait inside until midnight. The goblins lit a fire and the flickering light illuminated a cave drawing on the walls. A stick figure cave bear was chasing a stick figure town human that was chasing a stick figure goblin.
Windel hallucinated that the stick figures came to life. The town human animated and stabbed at her causing tiny slivers of pain. She grabbed the town human and threw it into the fire and it died screaming. The cave bear came to life and caused much more pain to her when it hit with its crude claws. She stomped it into the cave floor but it got back up as if 3d problems were not its 2d problems. This sent Windel screaming out of the cave. Fortunately for her, her gang members found her and were able to guide her back to the cave.
Meanwhile Glub scratched out the cave paintings except for the goblin. When she returned Windel danced with the goblin stick figure in celebration as she was limned in light from the embers of the fire.
While she slept, Glub painted a crude troll stick figure clubbing the spaces where the cave bear and town human were at previously.
When she awoke, Windel ran screaming from the cave as the cave troll figure came to life. It was nearly midnight, so the rest of the goblin bosses shrugged, left the cave, and followed her towards the town human village.

Day 89
Town Human Village of Glyphstone at Midnight

The goblin bosses arrived at Glyphstone village's gates

Twankle climbed up and shanked a town human.
Glub climbed up and slashed two town humans.
Windel climbed up and stabbed a town human.
With the four guards dispatched, they snuck into the town human village.

Twankle put out the lanterns at the gate.
Glub started a small fire in the stables and intimidated the horses into fleeing.
     Windel burned down the tavern.
Screaming villagers fled their homes and the town human guardsmen that were still alive left the guardhouse.

A fleeing horse kicked a town human villager back into his hut.

Glub slashed two town human villagers.
Windel grabbed a flaming stick and spread the fire from the tavern to a villager's hut.
Twankle left the watchtower and went down into the courtyard.
The town humans fled towards the gate. Two of them were caught in a bear trap set by Twankle and lost their right and left legs.

Glub slashed two more town human villagers.
Twankle unbarred the gate. Her goblin gang member opened the door.
The town humans ran towards the gate. Five town human villagers managed to slip away through the front gate. The town human soldiers and Captain Holly attacked Twankle but she dodged their attacks.
Windel spread fire to the next villager's hut. Her goblin gang members ran inside the gate and killed one of the town human soldiers.

    Glub ran towards the gate.
Windel spread fire to the next villager's hut. Her goblin gang members formed a cordon to prevent any further villagers from leaving.
Twankle triggered a trap causing some of the wooden ramp above to fall down but the town human soldiers dodged it. She tried to shank Captain Holly but missed.
A town human villager attacked a goblin gang member and knocked him out with his cudgel. Captain Holly's lunge was riposted by Twankle. Town human soldiers killed Twankle's last goblin gang member.

Twankle shanked Captain Holly and wounded her.
Windel tossed her torch at the guardhouse and set it on fire as its embers spread along the thatched roof.

     Captain Holly wounded Twankle.
Glub ran towards the fight at the gate.

Twankle shanked Captain Holly and killed her.
Windel ran towards the fight at the gate.
Glub killed two town human soldiers.

Glub transformed into his wolf form and chased after the fleeing town human villagers.
Windel ran after them with her goblin gang members.
Twankle tried to follow but tripped due to her wound.

Glub bounded after three town human villagers and tripped them. He then ripped out their throats.
Windel impaled two town human villagers with her spear.
There were no survivors of the town human village of Glyphstone's bloody winter solstice.

      Windel healed Twankle's wound.

Day 89-90
Glyphstone to Redfang Tribe Camp

Glub hunted and acquired food for Windel on their way back to camp.

Day 91-95
Redfang Tribe Camp

The goblin bosses recruited more gang members.

Day 96
Redfang Tribe Camp

Chief Bignose told them that goblin scouts had seen a strange gathering of bugbears headed towards the Twilight Woods and wanted them to investigate. Windel seemed to bristle at Chief Bignose's lack of a plan.

"Disguise ourselves? Disguise ourselves how exactly?"--Windel
"I said you can make a bugbear disguise. Or you can sneak in and get close enough to see what is going on. Do I have to think of everything for you?"--Chief Bignose

Windel called him a small-nosed, squat, stocky legged Chief and that one day she would take his throne. Infuriated by this challenge to his authority, Chief Bignose had her publicly flogged and imprisoned in the center of camp for one day. Glub tried to heal her wounds but was shooed away by the guards.
Twankle created a "bugbear suit" using her Repair skill. It has space for three goblin bosses and their minions.

Day 97
Redfang Tribe Camp

Windel was released from her imprisonment and allowed to rejoin the other goblin bosses. The goblin bosses tried to figure out how they were going to work the bugbear suit. Windel was having trouble due to her wounds and exhaustion...

DramaScape's Saxon Village No Overlay Print on Demand version used for the town human's village. The Print on Demand version has Side A with roofs and Side B no roofs to see the interiors of buildings. We had intended to make the square and hex versions (which is why there are three separate products for this map) also into Print on Demand products but interest in our PODs never really materialized except for our popular SciFi Tiles.
