Background: Nimue has always been curious about magic as her people do not have that ability. She was drawn to Zeke when he arrived in Maroa as he did minor tricks like lighting torches or heating the tea he was fond of drinking. Zeke was betrayed and nearly killed by his apprentice trying to stab him in the back with a hidden knife when the watching Maroa shot her dead with two shots of her double-barrel pistols. Fearing for their lives, they boarded the first ship out of Maroa headed for Bluth's Crown together. Unfortunately for them, they were attacked by pirates on the way there and left for dead in the Pirate Sea...
DAY 269

WEATHER: HEAT WAVE
Chug spotted a human and an Atani at sea holding onto driftwood. The Atani let go and started going under! Horventerous and Chug dived in after them. The human grabbed Chug's neck and floated back to shore while Horventerous submerged and grabbed the drowning Atani. They brought them back to ship. The Atani introduced herself as Nimue and the human as Zeke, a fire mage, whom she had saved from an Inquisitor. Fearing for their lives, they had boarded a boat headed towards Bluth's Crown where they thought Zeke would be safe. Their boat had been destroyed by pirates on the way south from Maroa. Zeke was elated to find out they were already headed towards Bluth's Crown.

Another day of the heat wave caused some fish to expire and the sailors netted a decent haul.
WEATHER: COOLER
Temperatures dropped towards normal as Captain Red Pirate Roberts fought against an east wind that was threatening to smash La Arcadia into the shoals of Perck's west coast.
WEATHER: THUNDERSTORM
Chug fell into the Pirate Sea as he tripped over the ship's bulwark. Nimue secured a rope and threw it down towards him. Chug grabbed a hold of it and climbed back on board. Horventerous was forced below deck due to the astraphobia he acquired in Dunich. Captain Red Pirate Roberts fought against a west wind and the thunderstorm to try and keep them alive and within sight distance of Perck's shore.

A brief reprieve from the rain was all the day would offer.
WEATHER: RAINY
The rain returned as La Arcadia arrived at to Bluth's Crown in the evening. The group bought food and provisions; however, 250 total was all the town could spare for 400 pieces of eight (200 for a storage space of good food that was converted to 50 provisions and 200 in provisions). The merchant said a resupply vessel was supposed to arrive this week but was late. Zeke left the group to live in Bluth's Crown. Captain Red Pirate Roberts divvied up their provisions between the group staying at the ship and those leaving on the land expedition into Perck.
DAY 276

WEATHER: SUNNY
Captain Red Pirate Roberts, Chug, Horventerous, and Nimue left the ship with 15 sailors, leaving Natsu Nara with Carifax on his shoulder in charge of the remaining sailors on the ship. The weather turned sunny and Horventerous cast elemental manipulation to keep his body hydrated. The terrain changed from sandy beaches to sparse grassland.

On a windy day, the terrain shifted from swaying grasses to a coniferous forest.

Captain Red Pirate Roberts saw Monkape Rock for the second time, but headed west this time around.
DAY 279

WEATHER: RAINY
Captain Red Pirate Roberts had a hard time of it as she tried to recognize landmarks on the treasure map during a rainstorm in a hilly terrain with sparse evergreens. She managed to find the second landmark.

Captain Red Pirate Roberts found the third to fifth landmarks.

WEATHER: OVERCAST
The group finally managed to find the treasure location marked on the map. A 200-foot cliff with a plateau followed by a second 100-foot cliff now blocked their way. Suddenly twelve monkapes appeared on the plateau flinging poo towards the group and screeching out threatening howls while pointing. Chug threw poo back.
Challenged by Chug, the monkapes took out coconuts from their tattered pouches and threw them down the cliff. Eight of them struck sailors and knocked them out. One of the sailor's was struck in the back of the skull and was killed instantly. Horventerous responded with a blast that hit eight of the monkeys leaving them stunned.
Nimue began climbing the cliff. Red Pirate Roberts used her grapple gun to attach a grappling hook to the cliff face. Her remaining sailors climbed the rope. Chug also climbed up the rope and used his grapple harpoon to attach a second rope to the cliff face.
Nimue
scrabbled ahead of everyone as Horventerous cast a second blast to take out eight of the monkapes.
Nimue was struck by one of the coconuts but managed to hold onto the cliff face.
Horventerous cast a third, smaller blast that stunned two of the monkapes.
[Chessie played Lucky Break to negate big damage roll but this costs a piece of equipment in my game.]
The monkapes grouped together to grab additional coconuts from their eight fallen but this is when Horventerous finished them with his fourth blast.
Horventerous checked on the sailors, finding one dead, and managing to rouse three of them from slumber. The remaining four were still unconscious. Horventerous stayed down there to protect them. Nimue, Chug, Red Pirate Roberts, and some of the sailors managed to get to the plateau and then climb to the top.
There was a cave at the top of the cliff and they had no light sources. So Nimue glided back down and got a Potion of Night Vision from Horventerous. She climbed back up the cliff and drank the potion.
Nimue entered the cave and saw the corpses of several humans, a Kehana, and a Grael on the floor next to smashed pottery. She saw a collection of straw at the back of the cave. Carefully moving the straw out of the way, this revealed wooden boards with a rod underneath that was attached to a flint and steel with a wick on a barrel inside a 5-foot deep pit. Nimue thought about it and realized that sometimes an elaborate trap guards nothing at all. There had to be a simpler solution.
Backing away from the trap, Nimue observed the corpses and saw that they had red stained lips. Perhaps the pottery was poisoned wine vases dropped after they had died? Nimue pushed the corpses to the sides of the cavern. When the kehana was moved, she found a map and scroll case with a map inside by someone named Winston. Nimue went outside the cave and grabbed a shovel from a sailor. She tried digging around underneath where the corpses had laid and heard a metallic thunk in one spot. She was not strong enough to dig it out, so she grabbed Chug by the hand and guided him to the spot to dig. When he had dug out the treasure chest, she picked the lock and opened it, immediately swiping the pistol inside for herself. She grabbed a sword, an axe, and a golden triangle. She told Chug to pick up the treasure chest and guided him out of the cave. Captain Red Pirate Roberts added 3,640 pieces of eight inside the treasure chest to the ship's fund. Nimue glided down the cliff to Horventerous.
Horventerous detected magic on the axe and a malevolent red aura on the sword seeing that it was capable of great damage. The treasure map indicated that Redbeard Rufus's treasure was on an island in the Flotsam Sea, northeast of Brigandy Bay. Captain Red Pirate Roberts, Chug, and the sailors descended the cliff face and made camp, waiting for the unconscious sailors to wake up the next day...
