Necessary Evil Recap 34: Stealth? We Don't Do That.
August 25, 2018 @ 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
<WARNING PLOT POINT SPOILERS FOR NECESSARY EVIL! >
Before Game Setup:
The first level of DramaScape's Space Station is used for the map of Satellite 15. This map is particularly good for this adventure because it has a hangar bay for the shuttle the players use to get to the satellite and the ISC room can be used as the power room of Satellite 15. DramaScape's Space Station also has a communication/satellite room that can be used here as well. I'm using a new camera phone so apologies for any blurry pictures as I get used to my new phone.
Omega Cell 107 Report 34
Friday, January 13-Wednesday January 17, 2005
Junkyard, Southpoint, Star City
I sent the Omegans a CommLink message about Dr. Aden's intelligence. Satellite 15 was the drone control satellite for the entire Earth drone network. We had a plan to bring it down. The Omegans would approach a shuttle disguised in the forest near Uptown's McGlothlin Park. There they would meet Dr. Aden and hear the rest of the plan before using the shuttle to go up to Satellite 15.
The Junkyard Dog rested and healed a wound.
Ruin created atmospheric pressure for his Stealth Suit. Ruin contacted Capone and got three space suits lined up for the rest of the Omegans with Wheeljack paying for one and the Junkyard Dog paying for two.
Wheeljack created a jetpack for The Blood King. Wheeljack got a couple of Medi-Stims from Willy the Fish.

Junkyard, Southpoint, Star City to McGlothlin Park outskirts, Uptown, Star City
The Omegans left for Uptown and arrived without any SoCorp or V'sori interference. The Omegans met Dr. Aden and saw two "V'sori" with him. The Atlanteans in disguise were easily spotted by Ruin's keen senses but would pass under light scrutiny since half the Omegans were fooled by the ruse. Dr. Aden explained that the Omegans would be prisoners and the "V'sori" here their jailers. The Omegans were given trick handcuffs and manacles for their arms and legs and became prisoners on the V'sori shuttlecraft. They put the Junkyard Dog's metal animal constructs Ash and Cinder into cages.

McGlothlin Park outskirts, Uptown, Star City to Satellite 15
Dr. Aden managed to bluff their way past two V'sori Mantas. Their pilots seemed to be lax in their interrogation of Dr. Aden's excuse of a power failure in one of the engines forcing them to land at Satellite 15 instead of their assigned Man O' War due to the mechanical failure. Omegans have only succeeded in one attack in space after all when Omega Cell 107 destroyed the Orca, an armored death ray satellite.
The group landed in the satellite's hangar and Dr. Aden and his two "V'sori" escorts explained the plan to the Omegans. They would distract the guards while the group snuck out and shut down the communications array in the center control room. The array was only accessible from the center elevator. After that Satellite 15 would need to be destroyed with explosives placed in the twin engine power core room of the satellite. Dr. Aden and the two "V'sori" guards explained the situation of the power failure to the Hangar crew as a distraction.
[Chessie played Inspiration to add +2 to their Stealth rolls but a terrible 1 on an unskilled Stealth roll really hurt them.]
Then as is their modus operandi, the Omegans completely failed to sneak past the lone war sphere that was guarding the airlock exit to the satellite core. The invisible characters managed to make it through except for Ruin whose Invisible/Stealth Suit was discovered. The war sphere sent out an alarm that caused the drones to open up their main blaster cannons and the V'sori technicians to draw their blaster pistols.
The Junkyard Dog shot at the War Sphere that had spotted them. She missed and hit a munitions crate that had most of the Omegans in the Hangar bay ducking for cover as the war sphere floated up near the ceiling of the hangar.
Meanwhile Ash and Cinder primed for explosions to release themselves from their cages from within the shuttle. Destroying your own escape route isn't a great idea either. Unfortunately the dogs seemed to have been programmed with a 'follow your master' subroutine. Being unable to follow they were programmed to explode and destroy any obstructions to this program if they couldn't simply bite or shoot it out of the way.
Ruin shrugged and decided to rush ahead towards the mission objectives rather than engage the V'sori technicians and war spheres. Wheeljack teleported ahead as The Blood King grew slightly larger as it followed behind him.
Dr. Aden slashed open the guts of the V'sori technician next to him with his Vibro-Sword and then followed Ruin out the doorway. The V'sori guards used their own Vibro-Swords to strike down a V'sori technician and War Sphere but were then shot to death by two War Spheres as the remaining hangar bay V'sori technician tried to follow the drones and keep up.
Bubbles rushed ahead and tried to mind control a K'tharen and was shocked when it failed twice.
"You cannot control Go'gor! Hahaha! You think you are fast. I will show you what fast means."--Super Fin Go'gor
Super Fin Go'gor then countered with a flurry of blows that moderately wounded Bubbles. Bubbles tried to dodge, but the Fin was nearly as fast as her and his pummeling attack struck home. She heard her space suit rip and tear as the oxygen and pressure left her suit.
Another Super Fin aimed a fiery blast at the Blood King as Wheeljack teleported backwards out of range. The fiery explosion didn't harm The Blood King but slagged part of the central elevator and parts of the walls of the mess hall.
"Py'ros will burn all of you Earth scum!"--Super Fin Py'ros
A third Super Fin appeared and surrounded Go'gor with a force field.
"D'nes will blunt your pathetic attacks!"--Super Fin D'nes
It would seem the V'sori continue their experiments. These are the first known Fins that have any powers whatsoever. Hopefully the research that created these Super Fins is still on Satellite 15 and with its destruction the knowledge will be lost.
The Blood King shot Go'gor but he simply regenerated the wound. Wheeljack teleported inside the undamaged right side of the elevator that wasn't damaged in the fiery blast.
Ruin put his explosives down and then opened the elevator doorway. Dr. Aden entered the elevator with Wheeljack and pressed the button to go up to the transmission control center.
The Junkyard Dog ran to catch up with the rest of the group as her dogs exploded and reformed in melted cages. The noise brought the attention of the last V'sori technician who opened the back of the shuttle door and retreated. He had the two war spheres take up cover positions beside the door and fire in at the two dogs. The dogs fired back in a crossfire using the door as cover as well.
After Super Fin Go'gor nearly killed Bubbles with a frenzied attack, severely wounding her, the Junkyard Dog fired her Fusion Rifle, which pierced the force field surrounding him and melted him.
[Bobbie played Bullseye! to double her ranged attack damage.]
Wheeljack and Dr. Aden stopped the transmission signal in the central communication array. The computer sent one final message, "Drone disabled, Champion Ultimatum enabled." before turning off completely. The Blood King shot and missed Super Fin Py'ros.
Super Fin Py'ros charged at The Blood King with his fiery aura and slashed at him with fiery claws but couldn't pierce The Blood King's armor or overheat its heat sinks.
[Randall played Sidekick to give The Blood King a Bennie to soak the melee attack.]
Ruin slashed at Super Fin Py'ros with his Katana and his Vibro-Saw, slicing him apart in an X-pattern from behind.
Super Fin D'nes tried to surround The Junkyard Dog with a constrictive wall of force but failed. The Junkyard Dog shot a wide-eyed D'nes dead.
Bubbles retreated and got a Medi-Stim out of Ruin's backpack to regenerate one of her wounds.
As the broadcast signal stopped, the war spheres entered a shutdown state. Without the war spheres to protect him the V'sori technician in the hangar bay was shot and killed by Ash.
Ruin entered the right door of the main power room and used his fiery aura to melt inactive War Spheres and fireballs to incinerate two of the remaining V'sori techs.
The Junkyard Dog entered the left door of the main power room and smashed the last tech's face into his computer terminal.
With their opposition dead or inoperable, the Omegans set their explosive charges and stole the other undamaged shuttle in the hangar bay, leaving before Satellite 15 exploded behind them.
Bubbles healed her two wounds from the Medi-Stim nanobots. As the Omegans neared Earth around the two hour mark to return, the two V'sori Mantas on patrol returned to hunt them down. One of them had a power failure in the engine and went adrift in space and a second V'sori shuttle joined the fray firing at the V'sori Manta.
[Randall played Mechanical Malfunction with Destiny's Child. Bobbie played Here Comes the Cavalry with Destiny's Child. Kevin played Folk Hero.]
Meanwhile, on Earth, I did my part. I activated every last Omega cell and sent them into the fray all over the world. With the drones down, we can surprise many of the V'sori and K'tharen who rely on them too much.
I grieve that Monolith died before this moment. I could have used him to activate fault lines and create earthquakes to decimate the V'sori and Fins before sending in the Omegans. Many more of us will die without this additional disruption in this critical moment, an opportunity that Ruin wasted far too early, and Baron de Villain caused with his fail-safes. Even though Ruin had destroyed the West Coast fault line, I had planned to unleash Monolith on a fault line within the Appalachians to disrupt V'sori in the Midwest instead before we struck. But the sacrifice of Monolith was necessary for without the Crown of Atlantis, this attack might have been all for nothing.
I activated the legion of Atlantean warriors hidden in Atlantis using the Crown of Atlantis while using the Atlantean teleport tubes to transport them to their objectives...
