Saga of the Goblin Horde Recap #3: Spring Equinox celebration

March 9, 2019 @ 2:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.


 <WARNING SPOILERS FOR SAGA OF THE GOBLIN HORDE! One Sheet Egg Hunt>

Background: A former member of the Stonefist Tribe that was exiled for killing his gang leader. Now a gang leader in the Redfang Tribe that eats his own gang members as snacks.


Day 11
Redfang Tribe Camp

    Brawt introduced himself to Twankle and Glub by eating one of his own gang members whole and alive as he screamed "NOOOOO!" as they waited for an audience with Chief Bignose. Little Talks was away from camp looking for a dark slime for some reason.
    Chief Bignose told the bosses they were to interrogate the hareborn Ostaria Luckyfoot, find the location of the dragon eggs, and return them to the tribe for the Spring Equinox celebration. 
     The bosses found out everything they needed from Ostaria by intimidation including the location of the hideout in the Shadowglade Forest, the exact locations of the six hareborn guards in the tunnels, and that there were fifteen dragon eggs. Brawt ended the interrogation by licking Ostaria's face and leaving. Ostaria wiped herself off and shivered as the bosses left.  

Day 11-13
Redfang Tribe Camp and Territory

     The bosses survived off the land and headed southwest towards the Shadowglade Forest.

Day 14
Shadowglade Forest

      The bosses spotted a giant green goblin attacking six hareborn hunters. Twankle recognized it as a troll and decided to take the opportunity of the troll being distracted to sneak up to it, ride its back, and steal its skull and teeth necklace. Twankle hid and put the necklace on as a belt. Meanwhile Brawt and Glub cheered the troll on as it slaughtered the poor hareborn and then left with the bodies.

Day 14
Hareborn Hideout 

      The bosses slaughtered the first three hareborn they saw.  

     Glub recklessly looked for dragon eggs and found two of them right in the middle of the fight. Brawt kicked the south guard into a wall and broke his femur. Twankle stabbed a hareborn guard with her shank as her gang members lunged at the second hareborn guard in the north and pierced him with their spears. Brawt found a single dragon egg and Twankle found two after the battle.

Day 14
Hareborn Hideout Entrance

     As the bosses left the hideout, they were spotted by Rojer and a band of twelve hareborn hunters stealing the eggs. Rojer screamed in anger, "Give us back the dragon eggs or die goblins!" Glub smirked and said, "Ostaria said we could have them. Come takebacksies if you can!" Rojer, "I exiled her for cheating on me. How dare she tell you about the dragon eggs, that traitorous harelot!"
      Twankle tried to set a trap at the entrance. The agile hareborn jumped over her trap and then a surprised Twankle started to run as the hareborn shot one her gang members. Glub and Brawt made to stay and fight as well but the sight of more hareborn hunter groups converging on the entrance convinced them it was time to run. Rojer and his hareband pursued them.
      The bosses weaved through the forest dodging branches and then slid down into a chasm, swam over a river, and then climbed the other side as one of Brawt's gang members was turned into a pincushion on the gorge wall. Rojer's bowstring snapped as he was about to hit Glub. 

[Kevin played Mechanical Malfunction.]

   The bosses ran for the safety of the Shadowglade Forest as Brawt ambushed one of the hareborn but the bosses were cut off from further retreat by thickets. 

Day 14
Shadowglade Forest

       Glub intimidated by screaming, "I'll be the one to kill you Rojer!" 
       

      Rojer bounced forward with a mad gleam in his eye and stared at Glub. The hareborn hunters formed rows and launched arrows at the bosses, picking off one of the gang members.
      Brawt hit Rojer with his battle bracer, leaving him shivering. 

      Twankle and the remaining gang members surrounded Rojer.  



      Brawt's next strike left Rojer wounded. Rojer's dagger bounced off Brawt's thick hide. Half his men drew daggers and surged into melee to assist their leader, slaying two gang members. The other six aimed their bows on Glub. The arrow rain left him moderately wounded and staggering. Glub slashed at Rojer but he nimbly dodged twice.           

       Suddenly the troll returned in a berserk rage," You rabbits or you goblins steal my necklace! Me kill you all till I get it back!" The enraged troll then killed two hareborn hunters effortlessly.          

       Within seconds, the troll regained stamina and another two hareborn hunters died.
       Twankle shanked the hareborn hunter nearest her and then skulked off into the brush to hide from the troll.  
        Rojer and the hareborn hunters stabbed at Brawt, Glub, and the troll but merely slowed them down.  
        Glub finished off Rojer and Brawt and his gang member killed two of the hareborn hunters.

      The troll killed two more hareborn hunters as Brawt grabbed a hareborn hunter by the ears and smashed him into the last one like he was a bat. Glub tried to negotiate with the troll but it didn't work as the troll turned towards them. Twankle continued hiding.
       As the troll approached his rage subsided somewhat as he smelled something good on Glub. The troll said, "You give me egg and that necklace and me forgive you."  Glub, "And we can be friends?" Troll, "Yes you can be friend." Glub, "I'm friends with the Goblin God!"
       Twankle returned as the troll left with the six hareborn it had slain. She smiled and pointed at her belt in triumph.
      
Day 15
Shadowglade Forest 

      The bosses came upon a group of huddled and sleeping porcupine men with porcupine guards as lookouts. They didn't seem to notice their presence. The bosses decided they didn't look tasty enough due to all the quills and spikes and circumvented them.  

Day 16-17
Redfang Tribe Territory to Redfang Tribe Camp

      The bosses shared food with the wounded Glub who couldn't hunt for himself.

Day 18 Spring Equinox Celebration
Redfang Tribe Camp

      Chief Bignose gave the bosses a knick-knack per dragon egg found. Then everyone had a huge feast of dragon egg omelets to celebrate the Spring Equinox!

Day 19
Redfang Tribe Camp

       Glub got two war-axes and a special harness for them that could be used during his transformations to be carried even as a wolf. It cost him two human swords and six knick-knacks.

Day 20-30
Redfang Tribe Camp
   
         The bosses recruited new gang members and waited for Glub to rest up and heal before their next mission from Chief Bignose.

Day 31
Redfang Tribe Camp

         Chief Bignose introduced them to Izzy Toecutter, purportedly the last of the Treebiter Tribe. Izzy had a mutation where his jaw was bigger than most goblins and it was filled with razor sharp teeth that seemed to grow back like a shark. Izzy had a nasty habit of biting his toenails to the point of making them bleed due to his big maw. Brawt licked his toes but was immediately disgusted by the taste of forest moss and fungi on them. Brawt contorted his face in disgust and said, "You taste like vegetable! Yuck!" 
         Izzy Toecutter wanted the bosses to investigate the site of the Treebiter Tribe Camp and find out what happened to his Tribe.  He presented two different directions one through the Shadowglade Forest and one through Hightree Ridge to get to the camp and the bosses decided to go through the Shadowglade Forest. 


Day 32-33
Redfang Tribe Territory
           
        Izzy shared his provisions with Glub whom he felt a kinship with as another goblin who had lost his tribe. Twankle and Brawt found a lot of game.

Day 34
Shadowglade Forest

     The bosses made their way through the Shadowglade Forest but didn't find anything. It was oddly quiet...

Saga of the Goblin Horde Recap #2: Bar Crawl

February 9, 2019 @ 2:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.


 <WARNING SECOND PLOT POINT SPOILERS FOR SAGA OF THE GOBLIN HORDE! >

Day 3
Human Lands 

     The goblins took the four mules at the cave entrance and ate them as a snack on the way to the human town. 

Day 4
Human Lands 

      Little Talks wasn't careful and ran into a human patrol! The humans cut down one of his rats and told him to surrender. 

[Ted rolled a Critical Failure on Notice to end up in this situation.]

       Glub held up when he saw the patrol. Pebbles's sense of self-preservation triggered and she stopped herself and gang members well back of the patrol. 

     Pebbles rushed forward after seeing Little Talks had been caught by the human ambush.  She drew her bow and shot one of the humans on the right flank of Little Talks in the heart.

[Pebbles's Danger Sense activated.]

     Little Talks's swamp rats bit one of the humans and made another one sway backwards to avoid a bite. Three swamp rats made their way to Little Talks from the river. Little Talks held up a sign that said "Behind You!"

[Ted played the Replacements card. Ted earned a Bennie for Little Talks's Big Mouth and Funny Voice Hindrances.]

      Glub transformed into a Barghest and slashed through the armor and flesh of one human while leaving claw marks in the armor of a second human.
     

  
     The human soldiers mounted a second attack stabbing Dirty Paws in both sides and he dropped. Little Talks tumbled off his mount and landed on his feet. A human soldier hit a rat with the flat of his blade, leaving it disorientated.



     Pebbles shot an arrow into the chest of a second human on the right flank of Little Talks. Her gang members threw their spears and pierced the heart of one of the humans as the rest stepped backwards from errant throws at their feet.

     Pebbles missed a third shot with her bow. Her gang members surged forward and grabbed their spears from the ground before lunging at the remaining humans. Two of the humans' hearts were pierced by spears. 
    

 
      Little Talks's rat pack took down one of the humans. Little Talks spat a blowgun dart that poisoned the last human. The hungry goblins fell upon the humans that were not poisoned.

[I gave them all a Reckless Bennie for not capturing one of the human soldiers alive for information.]

Day 4
Human Town
[Kevin played Cunning Disguise.]

     Glub told the gate guards that his name was Jim and they opened the gates. A second suspicious "human" in a trench coat appeared and tried to sneak inside the town but was spotted by the gate guards. As the guards tried to close the gate, the "human" split into six goblins and ran off. The gate guards raised the alarm. 

[All I could imagine here was Vincent Adultman from Bojack Horseman except the kids were goblins.] 

"No I am not six goblins in a trench coat! I am a human adultman."

      
      Meanwhile, Little Talks and his rats scurried over the town wall to get inside. 
      As the goblins regrouped together, it started to storm. 

Day 4
First Human Tavern   

     The goblins made their way to the first tavern.  

     Glub entered the front door still in his human disguise followed closely by Pebbles and her gang. Little Talks tried to peer inside through a window along the east wall but had trouble seeing inside due to the rain drops constantly covering the glass.

    Glub suddenly grabbed a human and threw him into the fire pit! He didn't catch fire because of his wet clothes.

     Pebbles entered and shot the human in the fire pit with her slingshot as her gang members made it to the door. Little Talks broke the window and climbed inside the tavern with his rats.  

     

      Glub intimidated the human in the fire pit to run away so he climbed out and hid behind the bar. Pebbles shot a human with her slingshot along the west wall as her gang members headed east to fight with Little Talks and his rats against the majority of the humans. 
       One of the humans managed to escape and ran off to find the town guards. Soon only a single patron fighting with a chipped glass mug and the bartender with a bat were still fighting the goblins near the bar. Little Talks grabbed a pint of ale from a cask and used a dirty ashtray as a lid to carry it out. He climbed back out of the tavern's window with his rats.

      
     Glub took a bottle of alcohol from the bar and made a trail to the fire pit before throwing it into the fire. The resulting fire trail returned to the bar and caused a big explosion!
     Pebbles's sense of self-preservation triggered and she grabbed one of her marbles before the blast.

[I gave Bobbie the option of saving the marble or a gang member and she chose the marble!]
 
 

      Glub, Pebbles, and her two remaining gang members escaped the spreading flame and choking smoke although Pebbles suffered damage to her throat and lungs in the escape. The first human tavern burned down but the fire was doused by the rain.

Day 4
Second Human Tavern   

     The goblins regrouped and headed for the next tavern. They found the humans fighting amongst themselves. Little Talks sent in one of his rats into the bar and stole a human food trident. Glub and Pebbles brought down weak pillar supports outside as Little Talks found some rope. He planned to tie it to the stone pillar supports to help out but Glub refused help for the last stone support. One of the human sides declared victory as the tavern collapsed and became their tomb.

[I gave Kevin a Loner Bennie as he knocked out the last pillar by himself refusing help from the others.]

Day 4
Third Human Tavern   

     The goblins made their way to the third tavern. Here they met up with Twankle.  She told them about how one her gang members had ate something questionable and puked himself to death. After making sure he was dead, they buried him and tried to catch up to the rest of the goblins.

[Chessie wasn't feeling well and missed most of the session. I had her make a Shenanigans Test to see what had delayed her reaching the human town.] 

     They swam around and saw that the tavern was up on stilts. The humans threw out some trash through a hole in the floor of the tavern above the water. The goblins attached their rope to the stilts and Little Talks had his rats tread water while holding the ropes with their teeth near the trash hole. Pebbles had her goblins hold her up on their shoulders but couldn't reach the trash hole to climb into the tavern. To pull the ropes with the proper leverage, they would need to get inside the tavern. Pebbles climbed her way up to the roof and opened the ashtray ale and poured it down the chimney! It hit the fireplace and caused a conflagration that put two chairs, the bearskin rug, and the bartender on fire! Twankle put a trap on the front door.

[Bobbie played Raging Inferno.]

      Orc raiders suddenly appeared! They screamed at Finneas to come out and fight them like a man. 

[Chessie played Orc Raiders.]  

    The sailors in the bar put out the fires on Finneas, his chair, and the bearskin rug by creating a firefighting water line from the trash hole using buckets. The choking smoke though left them dizzy.

      With the fire nearly under control Pebbles fell down the chimney and walked out of the fireplace on fire spreading flames with every step. This forced the sailors to split their attention in between fighting Pebbles and the blaze that spread where she walked. Finneas and the sailors chopped Pebbles into bits as she tried to steal Finneas's peg leg and run to the trash hole to escape. But her burning corpse had effectively caused a fire to split the bar in half.

    
     At this point, Finneas and the sailors were forced to give up on saving the tavern and head for the door or dive out the trash hole. Those that headed toward the door were killed by Twankle's trap and orc and goblin attacks. Those that dived into the water were clawed to death by Little Talks's rats. 
      The middle of the tavern burned down and the sides of the tavern fell into the water. Meanwhile two large groups of human soldiers moved to intercept the orcs and goblins.

Day 4
Human Town to Northern River 


     The goblins ran onto one wooden raft from the remnants of the tavern and the orcs ran onto the other one. They ducked under a bridge to avoid hitting their heads, dodged human snipers trying to hit them with quarrels, and survived their rafts nearly capsizing them. Little Talks saved Glub from falling off the raft. 
     At High Falls, the orcs' and goblins' rafts were shattered, forcing the goblins to ride their gang members like surf boards down the waterfall.  The orcs plummeted to their deaths. A pursuing human boat also crashed into the rocks at the bottom of the falls.

[Glub and Little Talks used Pebble's last two gang members.]

      As they hit the bottom of the falls, Glub nearly drowned but was saved by Little Talks and his rats that brought him to shore. The dead gang members, humans, and orcs drifted to a waiting pink and green creature that looked to be made of nothing but eyes, tentacles, and maws. It voraciously ate all of the bodies and continued floating down the river when the food ran out.

Day 5
Northern River to Redfang Tribe Camp

    The goblins hunted for food on the way home. They told Chief Bignose about their great victories over the humans and harrowing escape when they got back to the Redfang Tribe camp.


Day 6-10
Redfang Tribe Camp

     Twankle rested and healed her wound. The goblin bosses replaced their lost gang members and awaited the next mission from Chief Bignose...
